In cases of circulatory disturbances, if the veins are responsible, yarrow and St John’s wort can be used with good results. Piles benefit too. All these medicinal plants are easily collected from meadows free from chemical fertilisers, unpolluted waysides and even near the garden fence. Even if you are not troubled by any ailments, these plants should be used as a means of preventing disease, thus avoiding the subsequent need to cure one.
Anyone who suffers constantly from respiratory problems, catarrh and sore throats, should take a little ribwort, chop it up finely and mix it in a salad dressing. When finely chopped, the herb is absorbed in the dressing but still enhances the medicinal value of the salad.
All these herbs are rich in minerals and vitamins. They are beneficial to our health even though used in small quantities.
If you have a garden, the cultivation of culinary herbs such as savory, tarragon, thyme, marjoram, lovage and many others will be found most rewarding. Their effect on the system is second to none.
